Trailer for X-Men First Class

Back from Tron and the comic book movie news isn’t stopping:

So with Captain America and First Class we have two movies set in the past – so comic book movie meets “period piece” – could be interesting, but the trailer doesn’t show much except the usual explosions and over the top action.

I guess there will be an endless continuity debate among fans about first class since in the trailer their actions are pretty apparent to the humans, so the “mutant problem” should have been recognized way earlier, but I’m pretty sure that First Class is the first step to a reboot, but right now they act as if it is a prequel to get the fans on their side.

Expect the announcement if first class is a success that this will be a reboot – The movie by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) comes out in june.

Although the debate about the “mutant problem recognition” is simply ridiculous: Just because there is a “mutant regislation debate” in the first movie, that doesn´t mean that mutants were only then discovered by homo sapiens.
remember the beginning of X-Men I? Erik discovered his powers during WW II, and there were a lot of people around him when he did.
Also the movie is set in the 60s, a time period when racism was still going on, and people who did not fit into the system were just neglected.

Still using your magnet powers in the KZ is not as obvious as lifting a submarine out of the sea.
If you do this, there is no possible way how they could have waited until the late nineties to get into action
Actions like this would cause and immediate response, maybe even forcing the UDSSR and the USA to coorperate against the mutans

ok, in X-men 1, they discussed in public the mutant problem, whereat the submarine lifting could rather be kept a secret. and IF you count the wolverine flick they knew exactly that mutants exist, and that one was set years after “first class”

yeah kept a secret from the public, but the entire government would be after the mutants after this, if someone pulls out a submarine even if you keep it under wraps the government won’t wait 40 years to decide what to do with it. X1 only works if mutants existed but never attacked/fought on a large scale like it’s portrayed in first class
