Journey to the Planet of the Apes

Green Lantern bombed, Cars 2 was “meh” at best, so far the big blockbusters have either been just ok with a few surprises (Source Code, Super 8) and just two movies that absolutely delivered for me (Fast Five, Harry Potter).

Two movies remain on the checklist I made before this summer started: Cowboys and Aliens and Captain America.

But this week a change in the dynamic started when Rise of the Planet of the Apes started to get not only good reviews but very good reviews. This movie was completely off my radar – especially when they changed the title from Rise of the Apes to the current overloaded title I thought they were doing it because the quality was not really something and they just tried to cash in on the name, hence the change.

Now I am genuinely interested in this movie and seeing as I had only seen the original and the Tim Burton disaster I decided to finally sit down and watch a series almost as crazy as Godzilla (na, kidding, it’s not that logical).

So here is the list, let’s hope I make it in time:

Planet of the Apes – 1968
Beneath the Planet of the Apes – 1970
Escape from the Planet of the Apes – 1971
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes – 1972
Battle for the Planet of the Apes – 1973
Planet of the Apes (Remake) – 2001
Rise of the Planet of the Apes – 2011
