Godzilla Teaser promises a massive return of the Monster

2014 will mark the comeback of Godzilla to America (after his brief visit in 1998). Directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) the movie promises to be a return to the serious roots of the monster which was originally conceived as both a monster movie and a critique of America’s use of the atom bomb during World War II.

The teaser leaves Godzilla mostly in the dark and focuses on the drama around the monster. Interestingly enough the trailer makes the movie look like a soldier documentary featuring many Michael Bay-esque shots of jumping out of planes. It is not until the eery music from 2001: A Space Odyssey kicks in and we are thrown into terrifyingly beautiful wasteland:

Godzilla will stomp through cinemas Mai 2014.
